11-16-25// THRONE OF GRACE

Michael Morgan

Who helps his people out of the hands of all their enemies, and out of all their troubles and afflictions; he helps them in the performance of duty, in the exercise of grace, in bearing the cross, in fighting the Lord's battles, and on in their journey; he helps them to all blessings, temporal and spiritual; to all needful supplies of grace here, and glory hereafter; and this help he gives is quick and present, suitable and seasonable, is sufficient, and sometimes with, and sometimes without means; and they have great encouragement to expect it from him, since he is able to give it, being the Maker of heaven and earth; for what is it that he cannot do, who has made both them? And besides, he has promised to help them, and he is faithful that has promised; he has laid help on Christ for them, and set up a throne of grace, where they may hope to find grace and mercy…(from John Gill's Exposition of the Old and New Testaments)

Eph 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

GRACE: charis graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude):

1.     grace

a.     that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness: grace of speech

2.     good will, loving-kindness, favour

a.     of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues

3.     what is due to grace

a.     the spiritual condition of one governed by the power of divine grace

b.     the token or proof of grace, benefit

1.     a gift of grace

2.     benefit, bounty

4.     thanks, (for benefits, services, favours), recompense, reward

KJV - acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace (-ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thank (-s, -worthy).

2 Cor 12:7-10 Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me — to keep me from exalting myself! 8 Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. 9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

James 4:6-7 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE." 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

John 1:14-18 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John testified about Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.'" 16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. 17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

11-9-25// HE IS FAITHFUL THAT HAS PROMISED

Michael Morgan

THEME: MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD

Ps 121:2 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come?

2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

And besides, he has promised to help them, and he is faithful that has promised; (from John Gill's Exposition of the Old and New Testaments)

1 Thess 5:24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

Ps 119:90 Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations;

You established the earth, and it stands.

Deut 7:9 "Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

2 Tim 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

2 Thess 3:3  But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Heb 10:19-25 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near

11-2-25// WHAT CAN'T GOD DO...

Michael Morgan

Things God cannot do

·       Sin or act wickedly:

God is considered holy and pure, so he cannot sin or perform any kind of wickedness.

·       Lie or contradict himself:

God cannot lie because his nature is truth, and he cannot go back on his promises or word. He also cannot change his mind on matters consistent with his character.

·       Be tempted by evil or tempt others:

God cannot be tempted by evil, nor can he tempt others to do evil.

·       Act illogically:

God cannot do things that are logically impossible, such as creating a square circle.

·       Overrule free will:

God cannot force a person to accept him; a person must choose to repent and follow him.

·       Be mocked or deceived:

Because he is all-knowing and all-sufficient, God cannot be deceived or feel mocked.

·        Change:

God's character is immutable, meaning he is perfect and therefore cannot change or improve.

·        Change his Word:

He cannot go back on his own Word.

10-26-25// HE IS ABLE TO GIVE IT JESUS

Michael Morgan

Ps 121 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come?

2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Who helps his people out of the hands of all their enemies, and out of all their troubles and afflictions; he helps them in the performance of duty, in the exercise of grace, in bearing the cross, in fighting the Lord's battles, and on in their journey; he helps them to all blessings, temporal and spiritual; to all needful supplies of grace here, and glory hereafter; and this help he gives is quick and present, suitable and seasonable, is sufficient, and sometimes with, and sometimes without means; and they have great encouragement to expect it from him, since he is able to give it, (from John Gill's Exposition of the Old and New Testaments)

JESUS

1 John 2:1-2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate (parakletos) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

HELPER/COMFORTER: parakletos (par-ak'-lay-tos); an intercessor, consoler:

summoned, called to one's side, esp. called to one's aid

a.     one who pleads another's cause before a judge, a pleader, counsel for defense, legal assistant, an advocate

b.     one who pleads another's cause with one, an intercessor

1.     of Christ in his exaltation at God's right hand, pleading with God the Father for the pardon of our sins

c.     in the widest sense, a helper, succourer, aider, assistant

1.     of the Holy Spirit destined to take the place of Christ with the apostles (after his ascension to the Father), to lead them to a deeper knowledge of the gospel truth, and give them divine strength needed to enable them to undergo trials and persecutions on behalf of the divine kingdom

KJV - advocate, comforter.

Propitiation:  In the Bible, propitiation means appeasing or satisfying God's wrath against sin through a atoning sacrifice, which is Jesus Christ. It is the act of turning away God's anger and restoring a relationship with Him. Christ's death on the cross is described as the propitiation that turns away God's just anger against human sin, making people right with Him.

Rom 8:31-35 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33 Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Heb 7:23-25 The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, 24 but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. 25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Our Example

Mark 10:41-45 Hearing this, the ten began to feel indignant with James and John. 42 Calling them to Himself, Jesus said to them, "You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great men exercise authority over them.  43 "But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant;  44 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all.  45 "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

Heb 4:14-16 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

10-19-25//SINCE HE IS ABLE TO GIVE IT ...Holy Spirit

Michael Morgan

Ps 121 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come?

2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth

Who helps his people out of the hands of all their enemies, and out of all their troubles and afflictions; he helps them in the performance of duty, in the exercise of grace, in bearing the cross,in fighting the Lord's battles, and on in their journey;he helps them to all blessings, temporal and spiritual; to all needful supplies of grace here, and glory hereafter; and this help he gives isquick and present, suitable and seasonable, is sufficient, and sometimes with, and sometimes without means;and they have great encouragementto expect it from him, since he is able to give it,being the Maker of heaven and earth;

(from John Gill's Exposition of the Old and New Testaments)

What to Expect from God:

SALVATION/ETERNAL LIFE:

Revelation 13:11-18

Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as a dragon. 12 He exercises all the authority of the first beast [i]in his presence. And he makes the earth and those who live on it worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of the sky to the earth in the presence of people. 14 And he deceives those who live on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform [j]in the presence of the beast, telling those who live on the earth to make an image to the beast who *had the wound of the sword and has come to life. 15 And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even [k]speak and cause all who do not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 And he causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, [l]to be given a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 and he decrees that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a [m]man; and his number is [n]six hundred and sixty-six.

Holy Spirit

Acts 2:37-38 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?" 38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:6-8 So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, "Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?" 7 He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority;  8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

HE GIVES US HIS HOLY SPIRIT AND HIS HOLY SPIRIT GIVES TO US

Luke 11:9-13 "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  10 "For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened.  11 "Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?  12 "Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he?  13 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"

John 14:25-27 These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you.  26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.  27 "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.

John 15:26 "When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me,
