2-8-26//BE DEVOTED TO ONE ANOTHER IN BROTHERLY LOVE

Michael Morgan

Rom 12:9-13 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; 11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, 13 contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality

DEVOTED:

philostorgos (fil-os'-tor-gos); from PHILOS and storge (cherishing one's kindred, especially parents or children); fond of natural relatives, i.e. fraternal towards fellow Christian:

1.     the mutual love of parents and children and wives and husbands

2.     loving affection, prone to love, loving tenderly

a.     chiefly of the reciprocal tenderness of parents and children

devoted, loving dearly

KJV - kindly affectioned.

BROTHERLY LOVE:

philadelphia (fil-ad-el-fee'-ah); fraternal affection:

1.     love of brothers or sisters, brotherly love

2.     in the NT the love which Christians cherish for each other as brethren

brotherly love; brotherly kindness

KJV - brotherly love (kindness), love of the brethren.

John 13:35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

1 John 5:1-2 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.

1 Thess 4:9 Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;

1 John 3:16-18 We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
